Living to the beat of Your Heart

"What's the use of a heart, if there's no one for it to beat for?"
Forgive my objections.
Your heart can always beat for you. If you have nothing left, and someone hurt you... hide into a corner, lick our wounds.
In the quiet, you might hear you heart break.
But it's beating. It's beating.
Despite the pain, the anguish, it keeps on beating.
Keeping you alive.
Sometimes, it seems like we are ungrateful. We lament that we can't go on. Complaining that the pain is too excruciating for you to move on. Like our heart has just been torn asunder.
But our heart is still beating, no?
Crass as it is, I believe in what I stated.
You heart will always beat for you, keeping you alive.
Granted, our heart's the one causing us pain. But it's still keeping us alive, despite the numerous blows dealt to its greedy self.
It's beating to keep us alive.
Maybe we should live to the beating of our heart for once.
Think twice: you've still got your heart.
